How To Be A Highly Effective Person In 3 Simple Steps

Do you consider yourself an effective person?
How do you define being effective?
I define it as knowing what I want, getting what I want, performing at my best, and enjoying life.
What do you need to do to be highly effective?
1. Become a great communicator
This is the number one most important skill you could have to be successful. A large chunk of NLP is focused on communication, both verbal and nonverbal.
Being a great communicator means you're very clear about your thoughts, ideas, and especially what it is you want in order to articulate it. That's half the battle to getting what you want.
You can always be improving your communication no matter how good you already are, which will make you more effective in anything.
The L in NLP stands for Linguistics. NLP has language models like the Meta Model, the Milton Model, and Sleight of Mouth just to name a few. All of them are designed to help you be a more effective communicator.
Also NLP emphasizes how powerful nonverbal communication is, even more powerful than language. You will realize this as you cultivate sensory acuity and calibration skills.
2. Take Action!
I know you've heard this over and over, but so many people overlook it.
I've heard people say they want to try yoga but they're not flexible, for example. No amount of sitting around not doing yoga will suddenly make you more flexible.
So many people are waiting. They're waiting for the right time, waiting for when they have more money, waiting for when they have the time, waiting to be happy when....
If you're waiting, you're dying.
What?
Well we're always dying. Each second we get closer to our death, but when you're waiting, you're not doing anything but dying.
If I'm going to have to be in this process of dying, I'm not going to wait to get what I want. I'm not going to wait to be happy. I'm going to do something about it now.
Whatever it is you've been waiting to do, to have, or become, stop waiting and take action.
Most people are waiting for when they've figured something out before they take action. Nothing will help you figure something out better than experience. No theory or concept is greater than the information you receive from experience.
Figure it out as you go.
You don't always need to be taking build bold actions. You can take small incremental actions, so get to it.
3. Let go of what you can't control
You don't control people and you don't control most external events. You only control you.
Get clear about what you have control over and what you don't have control over. Most people confuse the two and they suffer needlessly and stress out draining the energy you could be putting toward creating the life you want.
Whatever you don't control, let go of it. It doesn't mean you shouldn't care. Care is different. We can care and at the same time let go of what we can't control.
Want to continue becoming more effective, go here.
