Personal Growth Mastery Using Neuro Linguistic Programming

Have you ever used vision boards?
What about affirmations, goal setting, morning rituals, or even walking on hot coals?
Has any of that worked for you?
Probably to some degree. There is something to these devices.
Imagine if you could download all of the personal development devices like the ones mentioned above and all of the rest of them into your mind. What would that be like?
More on that in a moment.
My mentor, the late Steve Andreas, used to use an analogy or metaphor about how you decorate your home.
Look around your home or office. What do you see? Pictures of your family probably. Pictures of good times with your best friends.
You probably also see awards, trophies, and inspirational and funny pictures as well.
What is your furniture like? It's probably comfortable, useful, and perhaps a bit stylish.
What about how it sounds in your home? Do you prefer silence or music?
In other words you probably surround yourself with pleasant, comfortable, and uplifting visuals, audios, and kinesthetics.
But your home is not where you really live and your office is not where you really work.
You live and work in your mind. You take in information through your five senses and you re-present or represent it internally. This is what is referred to in NLP as your Map of Reality.
You see internal images and movies. You hear voices, especially the critical ones. And you experience states and emotions.
What do you think you respond to most? Your physical surrounding like your physical house and physical workplace or your internal home?
You guessed it.
Your reality is your mind and your mind is your reality. When I say mind, I also mean your body and your neurology. It's all the same.
Unfortunately most of us don't decorate our true homes with uplifting visuals of the life we would like to create for ourselves. We don't hear the voices that encourage us and affirm our lives as loudly as those critical voices. And we spend way too much time worrying, fearing, and being angry.
The first thing I ask any new client is 'What do you want?' Then we spend the next 15 minutes to a full session trying to get clear about this because mostly what they tell me about is what they don't want.
This might be you and it was definitely me before years of NLP training.
Why do we do this?
Because we're the descendants of ancestors from thousands of years ago who had to focus on exterior threats near constantly just to survive.
Those times are over but we're still hardwired to think this way. Fortunately though we're intelligent beings who can make these things conscious and intervene.
We don't have to live this way. We can change it.
When you learn NLP, you're learning to do exactly this. You learn how to become conscious of the reality you've created for yourself and how to change it.
Imagine living in your vision board rather than seeing it twice a day on a piece of cardboard in the corner of your bedroom.
Imagine it being inside you and you projecting it outwardly to your surroundings. Most importantly, imagine it being unconscious so you don't have to use up energy or time thinking about it and so you don't get in your own way. You just naturally gravitate toward manifesting it.
Imagine instead of affirmations you have encouraging and uplifting voices guiding you toward solutions, possibilities, and opportunities and these also being unconscious so you don't have to force them.
Imagine being able to manage your emotions and states instead of being at the mercy of them.
This is NLP.
Create the home you want to live in and your reality will reflect that.
Don't leave your reality up to chance. Create it and live it.
